AOL routinely evaluates its products and services and has decided to discontinue Dial-up Internet. This service will no longer be available in AOL plans. As a result, on September 30, 2025 this service and the associated software, the AOL Dialer software and AOL Shield browser, which are optimized for older operating systems and dial-up internet connections, will be discontinued.

RIP to the loud beep noises while trying to log in

I’m more surprised people are still paying for dialup.
Sometimes people live where they have no choice.
Like 'they' say: "Beggars can't be choosers." :p
We were there for seems like the longest time; thought we'd always have dial-up. ... better than nothing, I GUESS. Then some little podunk company came along & hooked up a sky-fi network in our area! That little one-horse company ("Rabbit Meadows") has evolved into a pretty big outfit now!

I had dial up in the 2000s. Things were so slow I had to pay a computer repair shop to allow me to download software I wanted.
Ahhh, YES! The good ol' days!

If someone sent me a picture in the e-mail I had to go out & mow the lawn & then go in & see if it was done loading. :ROFLMAO:

I used to work in a place where I used NetZero in the middle of the night for access.

Yes, it was dialup, and it was slow, and it had ads, and it would crap out for no reason.

BUT. It was free, and it worked.

And NETZERO still exists. https://www.netzero.net
