If protecting an endangered species will endanger the economy of a region, then it should be allowed to go extinct.
The one I have in mind is the delta smelt (little minnow like fish) that has caused the San Joaquin Valley to turn into a dust bowl in California.

I've seen that on the news. It's terrible that a place which used to feed millions of people all over the world, has been turned into such a desert.
Farmers who can't feed themselves, let alone others, who can't pay their bills, and end up going to food banks for groceries. Tragic indeed.
