Last week was my last week of final exams.



My best advice is to study, practice some problems, read over notes and look at the textbook until you get to the point where you are confident that you know the material. Aside from that, manage your time well by spending time on the most important points of the material. And prepare yourself mentally - keep calm, don't get anxious if you don't know the answer to a question.



For my math final, I kept a large note pad and just practiced problems. I kept my previous tests and went through all the questions I got wrong. I did this repeatedly as repetition is key. Like Aristotle said You are what you repeatedly do. Success doesn't come from a singular act but from habit.

I'm kinda going through one right now.



But it is a real life exam to find out how methodical and accurate I can be updating and maintaining part of a 911 database for a county.



The program inside the telephone company's computer system is very exacting, the data fields have to be perfect, and the information cannot be off by even a single character in the line of hundreds of characters and digits.



And, as Young Miss Jazzy can attest.... it is a case of life or death.



So far though, so good. My first upload of eighty some updates and corrections came back with only a couple of errors, most of which were inconsistencies with the physical address (the street number isn't registered as valid on a new building for instance) which I can correct as soon as I get verification back from the customer.





I don't mind learning new things on the job. But it is a lot more stressful when, in the end, someone's life or property may hang on your getting EVERYTHING right, and there is no time for a learning curve or practice. I was simply told, Oh, by the way, we're doing this now, and you are it. and they sent me the raw, un-formatted information from the client and a book about how it is supposed to look and a deadline to get it into the system.

I went through the flight paramedic state certification exam two weeks ago. You are only allowed two incorrect answers out of one hundred questions. Night before the exam, I went over some notes I had taken and skimmed back through the textbook. When I went in to the exam, I remained focused and kept telling myself this is what you've always wanted so don't blow it now.

It will take another week to ten days to receive my grade. State is very slow grading and sending out notices. While I'm waiting, all I can tell myself is that I did the best I could. Just hope my best was good enough. Will update here when I receive my grade.

Not exactly. Not really something you can simply retake...

I usually get some papers, but this past semester was chill- I didn't get many finals at all.
