It's the easiest and cheapest way to stay in touch with the family we have that lives out of town.
We have blood-kin in five other states, and my brother lives 30 miles away. If it weren't for FB, our telephone bill would be obscene.

I didn't know that.
Neither of my sites have a 'social media page'.
Maybe I'm missing something.

It could be useful, especially for connecting with people who read your work, for example. I follow a few authors on Facebook, because they often post interesting little musings, or teasers of upcoming novels which don't make it to their official website.
Personally, I only have a Facebook because if I got rid of it my family would be up in arms about it.

Because I am totally addicted to a game on there..Criminal Case. A total time waster, but fun.
So I can always share about my love for Hot Pockets and Redheads. But more seriously though, cause I can keep better contact with family out of state (same with talking with friends who don't even live in the same state as me), talk with folks who have similar interests (Like comics), and sharing content from my website.
