Nothing ventured, nothing gained quote comes to mind. I would rather fail than to never never tried. Have I failed, yes, but not without giving it 100%. At least I went down trying.

Never trying is worse.

Who cares about failing with something? Dust yourself off and try again.

Depends on the situation. I'm more afraid of failure, but if the reward is worth the try, I'll try. And of course, it has to be something I care to try.

Never trying. At least if I fail, I would have tried in the first place.

Never trying. You never know what your chances are if you never try at it. You can't win or lose if you never play.

Never trying because if you fail, you have at least given it a go. Although only not trying counts as failure because you never made the effort to begin with.

Agreed with the general consensus here that it is worse to never try. Although admittedly that is something that I have often had a bad habit of doing. These past few years I have had to actively make efforts to overcome this part of my personality.

Never trying! If you never try, of course you won't fail however, you won't succeed either. & when one succeeds in something, it makes them feel really good at their accomplishment.

Definitely never trying. Trying and failing will give you experience that'll help you to do better next time. If you never try, you don't get that experience.

I think the only exception to this is situations where the consequences for failure are so severe that there won't be a next time (for example, jumping across a mile-wide canyon with alligator-infested waters at the bottom). But, those aren't exactly everyday situations :P .

This poll is redundant in the sense that one requires the other to exist.

You cannot fail if you don't try, but then you can't succeed either so even that is a failure in itself..

The most successful people out there also have more failures under their belt than successes but it was their perseverance through failure that allowed them to enjoy the successes they have now.

Success is a marathon, not a sprint.
