Famous conspiracy theories?

Think about it for a minute.

There is a reason the USSR essentially dropped out of the moon race in the sixties.

However. What exactly that reason may be will probably never come to light.
The USSR was very mean back then. All I know

Have there always (through history) been conspiracy theories?

Does the Internet make them more virulent?

King Richard III is a good example from the past. Evil hunchback? Or the victors rewriting history?

You can go back further than that with Shakespeare's rewrites of history. Macbeth was apparently a fairly good, successful monarch with a 17-year reign. The killing of King Duncan was par for the course in Scotland of the 11th century (something like 10 kings went down like that), not a horrific crime as portrayed in the play. But Shakespeare basically just took the characters and basic framework then twisted things to create a piece of pro-James I propaganda. British writer Dorothy Dunnett wrote a novel called King Hereafter that tries to spin things more historically.

The Conspiracy Theory That Links Missing Persons Cases To U.S. Cave Systems

Some 600,000 people in the U.S. go missing each year, tens of thousands of whom are never found, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs). It's where some -- but not all -- of these missing persons cases happen compared to the National Park System, and one geological feature common to them -- their cave systems -- has led online conspiracy theorists to point out a similarity.

They never left, they just became the Russian Federation and they're still doing bad shit to good people. Just look at the war with Ukraine, which used to be part of the Soviet Union until 1991. People state the war started in 2022. Nope. Wrong. Try 2014 when President Obama was still in office.
