‘Gagaville’, a neighbouring in-game farm featuring Lady Gaga-inspired animals such as unicorns, goes live next week on May 17 until May 26th .

The game extension allows Farmville players to buy Lady Gaga virtual items which will stay live after ‘Gagaville’ disappears, such as crystals.

The partnership has come about so that Lady Gaga promote her new album, Born This Way, to the millions of Farmville players around the world. For for the first time within Farmville, players will be able to listen to music while they game, through a special player embedded into ‘Gagaville’, allowing users to listen to un-released songs from her album.

There is no Lady Gaga Farmville avatar available within ‘Gagaville’.

Raquel Di Sabatino, director of Entertainment Strategy at Zynga (Famville’s parent company), said that this was the “first” of hopefully many tie-ups with entertainers and media brands for the games studio, which also makes Mafia Wars and Cityville.

“By doing this partnership with Lady Gaga, we are going to learn what resonates best with our players and hope to emulate those points with any further partnerships,” she explained.

“I want to celebrate and share ‘Born This Way’ with my little monsters in a special way that’s never been done before,” said Lady Gaga. “Zynga has created a magical place in Farmville where my fans can come play, and be the first to listen to the album.”

Forty-four million people around the world have downloaded FarmVille, playing it regularly with their friends on Facebook. There are currently more than 45 million active players who create digital farms, trade goods with friends and invest in virtual tractors on a near-daily basis.

Earlier this year Farmville introduced a new level to the game recreating the English countryside, which includes British-only plants and animals.
