What is your favourite forum software.

I think mine is phpbb or ip board.

When I made the switch from phpbb2 to phpbb3, I was totally lost for a couple weeks. Then I got the hang of the admin panel and could do anything with ease.

Same thing happened when I made the switch from phpbb3 to vB. I must say that vB's admin panel allows me to do way more than I could ever do in a phpbb3 admin panel.

And you said to me why pay for something you can get free alternative. I told you vBulletin had so much more options and mods.

vBulletin hands down. A great UI and advanced options.

Yeah I did say that.

I had some Christmas money to spend and I thought I would buy a shiny new toy to play with.

I still stand by A guest book is better than phpBB

I have a few friends who are coders and say that it is totally awful.

phpbb3 for better themes. smf simplemachines.org for ease right out of the box. Mybb also very good, mybboard.net.

SMF. Love it. I actually sort of hate everything else but a lot of forums aren't SMF so I just deal with it. haha

Superior? Guess that's where I disagree. SMF is just highly customizable, basic SMF might be kind of bad but customize it and along with just personal preference and I love it.

I've used a multitude of forum softwares, though I have to say my personal favorite is SMF. Easy to manage, permissions are simple to configure (unlike phpBB3), and very fast installation of mods and themes.
