Interesting article.

With Washington tied in knots over the budget deficit, pollsters lately have been trying to get a sense of exactly where voters stand on the issue. What they’re finding would not be terribly helpful to those trying to solve the problem.

That’s because many Americans’ perception of how federal spending is divvied up is just plain wrong. In fact, if their answers about the federal budget were even close to correct, slashing the deficit would be a breeze.

We can thank Fox News in part for this one.

But yeah, this is the sad reality we live with and is why I have little faith in this country moving in the right direction. The 2010 elections just proved to me that the vast majority of voters are completely ignorant when it comes to government, spending, the workplace etc.

Interesting yes, surprising no. Unfortunately.

This is the reason you won't have a rebellion.

I still like how T blames one TV channel for the overwhelming ignorance of the American People. Which, of course, also explains why so many fourth graders could not identify Lincoln.

16th president, responsible for the preservation of the union through the dark storm that was the civil war, known for his honestly and regal appearance, also extremely tall. Born in Illinois?

No, he's on the penny and the five dollar note. Ben Franklin is on the hundred.

In 1830, fearing a milk sickness outbreak, the family settled on public land in Macon County, Illinois.

Damn! haha well I knew he was living in Illinois at some point.

Jefferson Davis was the President of the Confederates...

I would've had to, but then I read Tamerit's post.

In my defence, we never touched upon the American Civil War in history... or anything else from American history.

Did the Spanish invasion of the New World in primary school, though.

It is so ridiculous how Republicans are unwilling to raise any taxes ever and that they go into office under an oath to never raise taxes.
