What do you think of people who go to concerts and film the entire thing on their phones? Are you one of them?

Do you think they're missing part of the experience by watching it through a phone screen the whole time?

Do you actually watch the videos back later?

Some artists require you to turn in your phones or give you a special locking pouch to put it in that will get unlocked when you leave. Is this too far?

They are missing out on the experience for sure. Chances are they will NEVER watch that video in the future. They'll throw it up on social media and nobody else is going to watch it either. Put your phone away and live your life people!

I guess people just want to experience it again later? I am not one of them.

Yes, absolutely.

No, I don't because I don't film with my phone. The sound is always shite anyway.

No, it's absolutely not. More often than not, it's already being filmed professionally. You can usually find concerts that are filmed with better video and sound.

It's not my kind of thing but more power to them I guess. Why should this bother anyone? It is rude to have your phone out for any reason in a classical music concert, but in other performances where the etiquette is relaxed I see no reason why not.

I do think it's bizarre for artists to chaperone your phone. Without additional context, I'd think less of any artist or venue that requires this measure.

I don't see the point of filming. I mean yeah a few snippets and some photos but nobody wants to watch a livestream of a concert from your phone. And you are there to enjoy the experience. Went to Taylor Swift on Friday night and we had a blast. Literally everyone stood and sang and danced the during her entire 3.5 hr concert. As for taking phones, her Tour has been livestreamed and uploaded photos, songs, etc during the entire Tour. And it has actually made everyone more excited to go to her concert. So, she doesn't care if people film or not.
I do think it's annoying for fans to be in front of you and then hold their phone up and film during the entire concert making it harder for someone to see. To me that's a big no. Yeah, do some snippets, fine. But, to hold it up in the air and film start to finish, that's excessive.
I do not see how an artist could take anyone's phones. Nobody is just going to hand over their phone. So, they kind of need to get over the notion of people taking pics.
