The rig that artist Sanela JahiÃâ¡ built for Fire Painting was clearly intended for mad science. The flame-spitting installation sits menacingly under a spotlight, all pilot-lights and beakers and plastic tubes, waiting to be activated. JahiÃâ¡, who received an MFA from Weimar, Germany's Bauhaus University last year, also performs the piece, and wears a mask to shield her face and eyes; she directs the flames with a microcontroller-based wired glove, in which each finger activates one spout, and the artist's careful gestures make the orange columns dance like the Bellagio Fountains. It's fascinating to watch, but take care that the claw-like glove and sinister facemask don't give you nightmares: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/04/fire-painting-performance_n_857208.html?ir=Weird News
