When you want to join a forum what do you first look for? What is the first thing that usually attracts you to or keeps you away from a forum? Lastly, what keeps you posting and active there?

What's the best foruming experience you've ever had and the worst?

If the forum has topics that are of interest to me.

What is the first thing that usually attracts you to or keeps you away from a forum?
Attracts me: The theme and overall appearance of the forum.
Keeps me away: I cannot post on a forum that only offers a dark theme. For some reason, the dark theme hurts my eyes.

Lastly, what keeps you posting and active there?
New topics being added daily. I have been on forums where the topics are weeks old. A stale board, to me, is a dead board. Makes me think the Admin and Staff don't give a damn if the forum stays open or not.

What's the best foruming experience you've ever had and the worst?
Best: Off Topix....you had to see that one coming
Worst: A forum that is no longer due to the fact that the moderators loved to troll the members.

When I first look to join a forum. I'll check the community and see if it's actually one I want to be a part of. I hate joining forums that have a lot of arguments and has members that do not respect the forum.

If the forum looks good, in terms of design, that is what usually attracts me to it first of all. If it doesn't look good, it won't keep my attention for very long.

I'll stay active at the forum if the discussions are good and the community is polite/friendly. Obviously you will get he odd 1 or 2 members who are not as nice, but that's to be expected.
