Floor of an apartment building

That's hard.
I would like to have the top floor because then I don't have to worry about someone in the apartment above me stomping all the time and being noisy.
But I would like the bottom floor also because then I don't have to worry about going up steps all the time, especially with groceries.

The best is a raised 1st floor with no neighbors under you IMO -- still get good natural light, no people peeking in your windows easily since they're above eye level, you can walk around as late as you want without worrying about pissing off anyone living below you, moving and bringing in groceries is a breeze with so few stairs. I agree that gardens/basements are the worst.
Because of my interest in gardening I have always opted for the ground floor. I was fortunate that I was allowed to use the space around to develop a garden
