you just cant do that in the uk......you have to 17 just to get a provisonal (learners) license to drive a car

Both a driving instructor and my step dad. I learned the basics from the driving school and whatnot, and my step dad taught me how to drive stick. He also took me across the country to deliver a car to his step daughter. That was a 3-day drive, and I was 14 years old, so you can imagine this teenager without even a permit driving across country next to big semi trucks.

Driving instructor and dad took me out occasionally.

I started driving when I was 13 or 14 in a small town where my grandparents lived because... somebody had to go do stuff.

And, besides, it was 1973 in.....

Population, 200, maybe 250 on a good day.

As long as you didn't run over some other little old lady, nobody gave a damn and a half.

That's also when I learned how to drive a stick shift.

If you wanted to go....

we had a farm and i was driving the tractor and cars on the land by the time i was 8 or so. it was something of a rite of passage to pull the manure spreader as our first solo run on the tractor (a fair bit of the cow flop got flung forward)
