Does the forum's statistics (member count, post count, thread count, etc) matter to you when you are considering joining any random forum you happen to be looking at?

Do you like to see nice healthy numbers down there or does that not matter to you?
If a forum seems toooo large, like you'd be lost in a crowd, does that put you off? What about empty looking forums with low numbers?

I'm more looking at if there is enough threads/topics that interest me. I also check if new threads/topics are being created and how often. I saw a forum the other day that looked interesting but after viewing it, I noticed that threads/topics were weeks old. That right there is a big turn off for me.

Yeah that also displeases me. Especially if I actually do join the forum, come back days or weeks later and my posts still remain on top of the lists.

I usually check the "latest posts" list and check the dates to see how active it is, but I do tend to look for that sweet spot for activity. Too small and it gets boring and too big and it's way impersonal.

It definitely matters to me. I won't sign up for a forum that is inactive. If I wanted to speak to myself I'd make a blog.

Heh, that reminds me of this other forum I went to once. They had a thread like our Chit Chat Zone thread and I saw the admin there talking to himself or just posting what he was up to for pages and pages, nobody else was replying to the thread.

i joined wrestlingforums.co when it had 16 members and 160+ posts i posted there 142 posts and suddenly admin closed that forum ! in short,i wasted my 142 posts on that ****** forum.

It matters to me mostly what the recent activity is especially when it's a tech support forum as I want someone to actually reply.

Seen plenty of large forums that are dead so they're of no use in those cases as they might have thousands of posts but they're all old and no one replies to new stuff.

If the forum's being active constantly, I'll frequent it. But if it's inactive, then I won't.

Of course the forum stats are important. Well, mostly. If you see potential in a forum, why not join it? If you've made a forum you may have felt that it's not going to go anywhere where you first create it. It doesn't hurt to make an account and post around a forum that looks like it will have a good future.

I do not care for any forums statistics. If the community is friendly and you get on well with them, I don't see why such stats would be of any significance. Also, if the content of the forum interests you, then that is another reason why stats wouldn't matter. I join forums all the time based on the community and content, and not on what their post count is.
