Have you ever discovered a fossil?

What can fossils teach us? :)

I've discovered several fossils.

When I was younger we often went camping.
Some of these campsites had big sand areas where fossils were buried. It was pretty cool and educational too :D

I now see they're still doing this.

As far as I can remember just ammonite fossils. A good amount of them though :)

Not exactly a fossil, but fascinating nonetheless.

Who Were the Ancient Bog Mummies? Surprising New Clues

Ongoing research suggests at least two 2,000-year-old corpses had traveled before their deaths.

...

But ongoing research is uncovering an entirely new dimension: When alive, these people of the bog may have instead been special members of their villages, which in the early Iron Age were loosely scattered across Denmark.

New chemical analyses applied to two of the Danish bog bodies, Huldremose Woman and Haraldskær Woman, show that they had traveled long distances before their deaths. What's more, some of their clothing had been made in foreign lands and was more elaborate than previously thought.

ive picked up some trilobite fossils on a beach thats well known for fossils

they teach us that evolution did happen proving a lot of creationist theories wrong

Fascinating.

I was going to say the exact opposite as there are many "missing links" that show where an entire new species suddenly appeared without any transitional phases. There's a few, such as with the horse, but others that are missing those steps.

Such as the butterfly, there is a serious lack of evidence of worms going to flight school.

It would appear that through Intelligent Design that some of evolution was directed to the final products, and in some cases, drastic jumps in were made.

And some of it was not on the scale of "millions and millions" of years, but, virtually, overnight.

There will always be missing links, branches, and leaves as it's rare for an organism to become fossilized and we'll never excavate then entire planet. However there is plenty enough to see some good detail in the evolution of life.

We can say that intelligent design is necessary to explain the unsolved mysteries, but that doesn't really solve the problem. For example, we could say that an intelligent designer is needed to explain how butterflies evolved. Usually when we find answers to questions, more questions are raised and our body of knowledge increases. However, if the answer involves an intelligent designer, we are left with unanswerable questions such as, "How did the designer accomplish X?" and we don't really learn anything.

I have zero problem with people believing that an intelligent designer created or aided in the process of life. What I fear is that we will be satisfied with answers that aren't very meaningful and thus will loose our inquisitiveness.

Anyway, trilobite fossils don't necessarily conflict with creationism (as in, a creator designing everything) until you introduce specifics such as the earth being less than 10,000 years old.

New fossils found in Argentina represent the most complete giant sauropod dinosaur ever discovered.

Scientists say they have 70% of the key bones needed to fully describe the creature, Dreadnoughtus schrani.

It means they can confidently estimate its great bulk - a beast that measured 26m from head to tail and weighed in at almost 60 tonnes.

Remarkably, the skeletal analysis reveals Dreadnoughtus was still growing at the time of its death.
