A Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S6 edge Iron Man Limited Edition became a smash hit as soon as it was first sold in China.

China's second-largest e-commerce retailer JD.com auctioned off the Galaxy S6 edge Iron Man Limited Edition on June 11 for 568,788 yuan, or 118.6 million won (US$91,635). The original price in South Korea was 1.199 million won (US$1,079), it was sold for around 100 times its previous worth. The number of bids was 92,429.

The popularity of the phone in China was actually predicted, in light of the Red on the front and back of the device. Only 16 million units are going to be sold in China, but the number is far from sufficient considering the country's huge population. When it was only sold to 1,000 customers on a first-come-first-served basis in Korea, the Internet site that sold the device crashed due to high traffic.

On top of that, the product put up for auction had the serial number 66. In China, number 6 symbolizes good luck, and number 66 has a meaning that everything will go twice as smoothly as normal good luck. As a result, the bidding for the device was highly competitive.
