Gangs..

What are you views on gangs? gang violence? Do you have gangs in your town?

I'm sure Melbourne has gangs, but I don't know of any in my immediate area. I don't know really, you can't control people when you proclaim to be a free country.

There aren't any gangs in my town really, but I know the one bordering ours does have some, and really you can't stop gangs, truth is gangs used to protect neighborhoods they were located in, so they aren't all that bad.

Well we have what they call gangs, just a bunch of kids who think they can scare people. Shooting means you are scared of them. The real man fights

I don't mind gangs selling drugs and stuff like that. What I do mind is that they kidnapped people, rape women, have gun fights, etc. I hate those things... Gangs is should be at least some selling drug group.



And no I don't have any gang in my town area.

I'm wearing a red sweater right now, ESL East Site (but I'm kidding I don't actually claim). My town has two gangs that have come up - 13 (South Side) and East Side Locals (East). I know people from both groups and I appreciate knowing them because they do have my back, almost no matter what. I'm not saying that I have full gang protection as I don't actually claim and there are people who don't like me, but whatever. And am I scared to be at a party with more than three South Siders, yeah... they're violent and you can't trust anyone no matter how much they tell you that you're cool... speaking Spanish around you and laughing and having people just stare you down like they want to beat your ass... not fun.

Some of my friends have joined gangs but i dont get mad at them because of it. I WILL not join any sort of gang at all. But i cant really get mad at my friends for their choices. I was not put here on this earth to judge people. Anyways, one time me and my daughter were sitting in the living room watching tv and all of the sudden gun shots go off like crazy (really loud) and my daughter didnt know what was going on and of course I did. So I just tell her to sit tight on the couch and not get up. So we sit there watching tv for a little while and a few minutes later I get up and look out the window and there is a million cops outside on my street. But anyways, that kind of shook me up a little bit but luckily they werent shooting at my house.



People are a product of their envornment:



I dont think that everyone is a product of their environment.. I grew up in a really bad neighborhood in southern california where our house would get shot up and robbed all the time. Then I moved to northern california where I thought it would be better but its pretty much the same thing. I grew up in a ghetto environment, on welfare / no food or money or anything. Getting my clothes from the thrift stores and garage sales but I didnt turn out to be so bad. I have a full time job and my own place and I take care of my kid. Same goes for people who grow up middle class and have all the proper values instilled in them... Then they grow up to be gangsters or whatever. It doesnt matter how someone was raised or what environment they grew up in, it matters what they want to do with their life. The only one that controls your life is you.





People join gangs for protection:



You are more likely to be a victim of violence being in a gang. When you arent in a gang, minding your own business, chances are you will be left alone. Im not saying that s**t wont happen to you, because it will... Thats life. But when your in a gang thats when you are a target to other gangs. Thats when you have to go f*** someone else up to protect your fellow members (possibly getting f***ed up in the process or maybe not). So I guess you will need the protection AFTER joining a gang. BUT, its just my opinon.. Take it or leave it.
