I wonder what you guys think of having general sections on themes boards, i mean my board is an Rp board but i got a general section. Is it a good idea to have General sections on boards dedicated to a single or only like 2 or 3 themes??

Yeah its good to have a general discussion section on any type of forum. Not everyone wants to talk about the topic of the forum 100% of the time they are visiting that board.

Yes, there should be, so if someone joins but they're like, not into roleplaying, they can post in the general discussion forum. It doesn't completely alienate them, and you don't lose members. You never know, once they post in the general discussion forum a bit and get to know the other people, they may be encouraged to start roleplaying.

Any sort of forum with one theme, well as Nebulous said you can't talk about it all the time. Without one you'd just be encouraging off topic-ness.

The best idea, sometimes people cannot talk about the same subject all the time, also members that don't like that theme may just post in the general boards.

Sometimes, you want to just bs with your online friends--an off topic section is perfect for that.

General sections on a themed forum are a good idea. They are actually almost a must, I would say. Because suppose you're requesting a package at an advertising forum, and someone tags your site, but they do not know anything about the theme that your board is about? The general section would be a good spot for them to do their package in, because at least they'll be able to take part in some discussions at any rate, and the package still gets done.

General sections on a themed board is a pretty good idea and is standard for most any genre board you can find.
