George Zimmerman, who was acquitted in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin, helped rescue a family of four who were involved in a single-car accident, CBS Affiliate WTSP reports.

According to a Seminole County Sheriff's Office report, the family was driving in a Ford Explorer SUV in Sanford last week, when it went off the road and rolled over.

A responding deputy reported that when he arrived, Zimmerman and another man helped the two adults and two children out of the vehicle.

No one in the car was injured.

The report states that Zimmerman was not a witness to the crash, and left after making contact with the responding deputy.

This is the first known public sighting of Zimmerman since he was found not guilty of second-degree murder charges in the death of Martin in February 2012.

Some people aren't buying this story and I'm not sure myself. Seems odd that he comes out of hiding, rescues a family and then leaves to go back into hiding.

Family rescued by Zimmerman cancels news conference, fears 'blowback'
Published July 25, 2013

Zimmerman's attorney Mark O'Mara told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that they changed their minds, deciding they didn't want to be in the spotlight. After discussing the situation with family and friends, O'Mara said they realized that being connected to Zimmerman right now could be toxic.

"They wanted to thank him publicly," O'Mara said. "They thought that they could not, for the possibility of blowback against them."
... ...
"The same people who refuse to accept the jury's verdict, just want to be angry, just want to hate George Zimmerman, are still going to," O'Mara said. "Even if we had a videotape of the accident, they would still say it was made up. So you can't really respond to people who just don't want to listen to the truth."

Anything Zimmerman touches for the rest of his life will instantly turn into shit.
