Get offended

They might love themselves to the point they believe they are perfect and hate it when people say otherwise.
Or possibly they could be self conscious it find minor things hurtful, therefor they get offended.

I believe people get easily offended because they don't feel secure about themselves. Due to their inferiority complex, irrespective of how deep it runs, they tend to lose the ability to 'turn the other cheek'.

I also believe it happens because a person cannot see anyone elses point of view but their own.

Which is why some people are very close-minded towards others.

This, but also because of embarrassment, which stems from insecurities about oneself and an inability to see past their own narrow-minded point of view. However, there are legitimate reasons to get offended about something depending on what they're talking about. For instance, you may become offended if someone starts to joke about rape and that person's a victim of said heinous crime. So it really depends on what they're getting offended by.
