Girl survives US plane crash that killed four others

A seven-year-old girl walked free from the wreckage of a private plane that crashed in a wooded area of Kentucky on Friday killing four others on board, US police said.

Police were alerted to the crash when they received an emergency call from a local resident, they said in a statement on Facebook.

The 71-year-old man, Larry Wilkins, said he was watching television at about 6:30 pm, when he heard a knock.

"She was bleeding pretty bad, her legs were bleeding, her face had a bloody nose. She was barefoot, only had one sock on," he told NBC News by telephone Saturday.

"She told me that her mom and her dad were dead, and she was in a plane crash, and the plane was upside down," he added.

He said he got a washcloth to clean her wounds and immediately called emergency services.

The girl was distressed and taken to a hospital for treatment to non life-threatening injuries, State Police Sergeant Dean Patterson said in a statement.

Emergency crews raced to the area and later located the small plane.

"Investigators on scene confirm four fatalities at the crash site. The fatalities account for the pilot and remaining passengers," a subsequent police statement on Facebook said.

What a miracle this girl survived this crash.

I saw this on FOX. Very sad! What made it even sadder was the little girl formed a bond with the elderly man who helped her and begged the man to come in the ambulance for the drive to the hospital. They said no you can't unless you are family. The incentive bastards I think forgot the whole family just DIED! So then the elderly gentlemen says to the little girl I will follow you to the hospital and see you there. And once again they said you can follow but they will never let you see the girl in the hospital because you are not family. People can be the biggest IDIOTS at times!

Thats pretty insensitive. He should have been able to go see her under the circumstances.

and i bet fox news said bad things about the paramedics, eh?

Very sad!
yes, for the ones that lost those lives, but mysteriously, this very young girl survived, so that's something good in this sad story...

she was probably scared so she wanted him to be with her...

They said no you can't unless you are family.
which is policy and not their own rules...

The incentive bastards I think forgot the whole family just DIED!
how dare you! it doesn't matter if they knew her family died... the paramedics did the right as they have to follow policy...

So then the elderly gentlemen says to the little girl I will follow you to the hospital and see you there.

they said what they know, they weren't being anything but informative to the elderly guy, hospital policy and ambulance policy was the reason why, not the paramedics... they were just doing their job and did it correctly... they are certainty not idiots... they don't know who this guy is and what he is doing, he could be a child rapist as far as they are concerned... @jazzy can confirm...

very shameful!

No my personal opinion. No comment was made either way.

Very sad!

Agreed. But not sure what the point is?

What made it even sadder was the little girl formed a bond with the elderly man who helped her and begged the man to come in the ambulance for the drive to the hospital.

Which with a quick call on there radios they could have had a exception done for a little girl who lost everyone she loves and all alone.

Yes we agree. Again what is the point you are making.

Come on! The ambulance people knew what was going on by the time they got there and a child pedophile was not one of them. The girl was terrified and a exception could have been made in the ambulance or hospital until other family was found.

yeah, good job...
