Some parents want their children to have the best of everything.

As a parent, would you try to give your children high quality or expensive things?

Depending on the thing itself, possibly. If it's clothing, shoes, or more common toys, no, they're going to go through those so quickly the money isn't justifiable until they're older; however, if it's something like a "big" toy that'll last a couple of years and be a favourite, or something educational, then yeah, it's ok to go for the bigger budget stuff, I suppose. I grew up with generic markers, pens, etc. Hand me down clothes, discount shoes, thirft/charity shop toys and I was perfectly fine with that. I had as much fun as the other kids, got as much schoolwork done as the other kids and had as well rounded a childhood experience as them, but without the higher priced items.

I grew up super poor and I turned out alright. Didn't have anything expensive or high quality.

I got expensive stuff as a kid. I'd get a PS1, PS2, and other game consoles. I think my SNES and N64 were bought from my dad's friend for a cheap price. I always went over to that persons house and played the N64 wrestling games.

Of course being a kid I didn't take care of the discs at times and had to learn my lesson! I feel as long as the kid will take care of it and be responsible, why not? For my graduation from high school my dad (maybe mom) got me a PS3.

Did your parents make good money?
No. I know that we lived with family and my parents didn't have to pay as many bills as they do now. I asked for a PS2 and such, never expected it for Christmas. I only got my Gamecube when it was on a sale for 100 dollars or so my dad said. It came with Super Mario Sunshine.

Nice! Gamecube was a console I never had, I wanted one though!

Yeah, I've definitely spoiled my kids with tv sets and game consoles.
