Giving money to the homeless

Do/have you ever give money to homeless people in your area who are panhandling? Why/why not?

I have. But I'm not inclined to any more because there is so much governmental & charity help available.

I'm on the same page with @passenger with her reasons. I don't really go out of my way to do it anymore like I used to.

No, and I never will. Aside from what Passenger said, you don't know what they are going to use that money on, and none of us have the time to sit down and get to know these people to determine if they are drug addicts or people having a hard time (without addiction). What it ultimately comes down to, it is not our responsibility to give others money and support them.

I have, but in recent times I have switched from giving them money and began bringing them food instead. I don't wanna think poorly of them and further stigmatizing them, but I truly don't know what my money is going to be used on. Why take chances?

I have as well in the past, even given some leftovers but the guy was pissed hahaha. I won't do it now. I usually don't carry cash anyway.

Honestly no, I would rather buy them the food they need. There is no telling what they are going to spend the money people give them on. drugs, beet cigs things they don't need.

I usually don't give money to the homeless. Not everyone deserves to be homeless, a lot of them choose to be homeless, and do drugs instead of getting a roof.

I don't give money to the homeless but i'll give them food and snack instead. And I pray for them.
