Gossip

Gossip is idle talk or rumour, especially about the personal or private affairs of others. It forms one of the oldest and most common means of sharing (unproven) facts and views, but also has a reputation for the introduction of errors and other variations into the information transmitted. The term also carries implications that the news so transmitted (usually) has a personal or trivial nature, as opposed to normal conversation.



Do you like to gossip? Have you been the victim of nasty gossip?

I have been the victim of malicious gossip. And as a result lost a few so-called friends. Those that knew me better--didn't believe a word of it. The problem is this was several years ago, and the rumors and innuendo still surface from time to time.

Gossip goes around like crazy at my work place. I try to ignore it and not participate. It actually says in our contract not to gossip or spread rumors. Lol

Gossip, like rumors, spreads like wild fire, especially in a small town like mine. The second you tell someone something, it's gone. I remember once, something happened in our study hall period, and within the five minutes we have in between classes, the whole school knew about it. I have been a victim of gossip, but it's never been really bad. I am a gossiper...I'm a teenage girl...what do you expect?? However, I am one of the few that know what to gossip and what NOT to gossip. A good thing about small town...the people that really know you...if there's gossip going around about you, and those people know if it's false, they have your back, no matter what.

I work with a woman who just won't shut up. She knows everyones business and will tell anyone who is willing to listen. I had enough and told her last night to get a life and leave me alone. I hate people like this who have nothing better to do than gossip about other people. IMO, they are pathetic and are lacking something in their own life.

Way too often at my old school. Some REALLY bad gossip had let loose and i was shunned for quite a while
