In light of my graduating high school, Mom said she'd like for me to go visit somewhere. She knows I wanna go to Washington D.C. one of these days, but she wants to know if there are other places I have in mind.

That's where you guys come in. I'd like some recommendations on where I should go. Washington DC sounds cool and all but I'm not sure I'd like to go there for my trip. I've always wanted to travel out of country...

I haven't done a ton of travelling Rob, and most of what I did was on two wheels without much stopping. But Myrtle Beach Florida is a beautiful place, right smack on the Gulf, a wonderful boardwalk full of shops of all kinds and bars of every sort.

While I was there I'd get up in the early morning and have my coffee on the patio of our condo and watch the dolphins play in the surf about 30 feet from where I sat. That was a great trip.

But I'd imagine you're looking for more of a partying town for this trip and probably some of the younger crowd would have better ideas for that kind of vacation.

Thanks for reminding me about Myrtle Beach, Dad has always wanted to live there actually. I'll definitely keep this area in mind. :}

I loved DC for the sightseeing. Very classy restaurants, and of course the landmarks. If you want my honest opinion, Philadelphia and Williamsburg VA are better historical sites. While we're talking about that general area, I also highly recommend going to visit the National Aquarium in Baltimore and the rest of the Inner Harbor. There is also Ocean City, Maryland if you are interested in tourist beaches - OC has a lot of nightlife, great shopping, etc. I sometimes go to the Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. Both are insanely crowded. The Outer Banks is the quieter family beach.

If you are into sightseeing Niagara Falls is breathtaking and I truly recommend it - especially the Canadian side. Orlando is just unforgettable: Universal Studios, Walt Disney World, and the Kennedy Space Center.
