So, have you ever run into grammar nazis? People who insist that everything is fully punctuated, quoting the misspelled words or whatever?

Very annoying. I'd say people who only respond to topics to point out spelling errors and mistakes (which Ive seen before) are a form of spammer or troll.

i'm not a grammer nazi ,but i do make sure i spell everything correct. except for words i never learned how to spell correctly like deffinatley. if i see i mispelled a word in a post i immediately change it.

I found it ironic you spelled immediately wrong. But I'm the same way-- except right there. I always ensure to use proper grammar, but I've got better things to do than correct others grammar, unless it alters the idea of the post.

actually i was looking at my spelled word for immediatley and well i fixed it but i might not have known how to spell it until now.

I'm a Secret Grammar Nazi, as I don't bother responding to the topics.

Spelled or Spelt? Which is correct? I know Spelt isn't in the dictionary (at least not mine) but it sounds better than 'spelled'.

I hate grammar nazi's so much that they drive me away from forums. I am severely dyslexic and have problems with spelling and grammar, So for people to point it out is highly irritating!

The fun thing about Grammar Nazis is that they tend to make mistkaes themselves while cirticizing everyone else for doing what they are doing.

The best course of action is to look for every possible mistake that you can find in their posts and point it out to them at every opportunity. This will hopefully provide some cheap entertainment before they get the idea to either quit it or get lost.

These types most of the time aren't breaking rules or are doing something that you can hit them with the rules so it's best to get rid of them before they turn away decent people from your forum.

I was bored, so I looked it up. The correct plural of spell is spelled. Spelt is not a word. =]

Some things just don't sound right in the English language.

Yes it is. Maybe not in English, but it is a word.

I never was a grammar or spelling Nazi on any of my forums that I had. Heck, I'm not a very good speller myself really, so I don't worry about the mistakes that other people are making.

I've done a bit of research and found that spelled is most common in American English. Spelt is more common in British English, and thus both words are fine to use.

Actually, spelt is

–noun

a wheat, Triticum aestivum spelta, native to southern Europe and western Asia, used chiefly for livestock feed.

Origin: bef. 1000; ME, OE < LL spelta, prob. < Gmc; cf. OHG spelza (G Spelt)

I didn't use a dictionary. I used my researching abilities.

Spelt IS the correct word to use as a past tense of spell You people need to make sure of your facts before you claim to know the answer (shakes head)! and, Yes, spelt is also a type of grain but, as is the case with many English words, the word can have more than one meaning

'Spelt' is the past tense of 'spell' in English. In that language they try to speak in America they use the word 'spelled'. 'Spelt' is correct.

Does anyone with moderator or admin powers on forums ever correct spelling errors in other people's posts? :P
