Granddad shot dead burglar who tried to rape his 19-year-old granddaughter

A 67-year-old man shot three burglars, killing one, after they broke in to his home and tried to rape his granddaughter.

Three masked men stormed the man’s home in Lumberton, North Carolina and forced the granddad to open his safe at gunpoint before attempting to sexually assault his 19-year-old granddaughter.

The grandfather managed to snatch a gun from one of the men and blasted it at them- killing Jamie Lee Faison, 20, and injuring two other suspected accomplices who have been named by police as Brandon Carver Stephens and Jamar Hawkins.

However the granddad was also injured in the shoot-out and is currently in a critical condition in hospital.

Maj Anthony Thompson, from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, told WBTW News that the incident started when masked men knocked at the house where the granddad lives with his wife and 19-year-old granddaughter.

The men, who were wearing black clothes, balaclavas and gloves, stormed the house and demanded cash.

They bundled the granddad and his wife in to a room in the back of the house and ordered them to open up the safe at gunpoint.

The men then tried to rape the couple’s granddaughter.

The brave granddad managed to grab a gun and shoot all three suspects.

They fired back and the granddad was hit several times.

The three wounded burglars fled in their victims’ gold Cadillac.

Police were called after two men turned up at McLeod Hospital in Dillon.

Officers were given information which led them to Singletary Church Road near Lumberton where they found Mr Faison, age 20, dead inside the stolen Cadillac.

He had gunshot wounds.

The grandfather was taken to a hospital and was later airlifted to another hospital following the incident.

A relative of the grandfather, Sherri Bridgeman, wrote on Facebook: “He is out of surgery but is still critical in ICU.

The two other wounded suspects, named by The Robesonian newspaper as Brandon Carver Stephens and Jamar Hawkins, were airlifted to other hospitals for emergency surgery.

I hope that the grandfather recovers, but it's just a shame that the attackers got medical treatment. Hopefully they will spend a very long time in prison being looked after by some burly blokes who are desperate for sex.

I'm fine with them getting medical treatment. That way they actually stand trial for the crime they comitted. The death sentence gives them a way out.

Hopefully, they'll serve a very long sentence.

Though I don't really much care if the burly blokes they'll be rooming with are "desperate for sex" or merely "curious about gay sex", as long as the burly blokes give it to them

Should have let the scum bags bleed out. No wasting tax payers money and the family would have gotten closure knowing no panzy ass liberal policies would have eventually let them out to do it again.

And if this family was allowed to defend themselves this might have ended much sooner without a woman almost being raped. But that is just more of panzy ass liberals with no trust in the people who don't break the laws.
