Talk about a grave situation.

A gravedigger in Spain was suspended after a photo of him posing with an exhumed body circulated on social medial.

The man, who was identified only as Clemente, is being investigated by police after appearing in the photo with a man who is believed to be the dead man's nephew. The victim reportedly died 23 years ago. The body was exhumed so the grave could be extended, according to UPI.

Clemente is on the right. The photo was taken by the dead man's niece.

"It was silliness with no justification whatsoever," a municipal representative said in a statement.

So was this in poor taste or just "silliness" in your opinion?

Quite poor taste. That is, most likely, someone's loved one. Would they want their loved one's corpse posed with and spread all over the internet? Chances are, no. These people should be reprimanded or fired.

Given that the family members were involved, it would seem to me that we don't know why the image was taken. It seems to me that if anybody had grounds to object, it would be the family.

And even more, I find it remarkable that their Uncle could 'stand up' after twenty years of blissful repose.

Here are the answers as to why:
As the dead man's niece and her husband watched the gravedigger recovering the body, they saw that the corpse had been mummified.

Thinking this would be an interesting photo opportunity, the niece of the dead man then shared the picture with work colleagues on Whatsapp, and soon the picture went viral.

The man's niece defended her actions by saying she didn't mean to offend anyone but merely wanted to show the effects of mummification to the dead man's sister, according to a report in the Mirror.
