More than 500 people turn up to see helicopter-suspended light show on eve of blockbuster video game launch.
A 50ft diameter illuminated Halo 'Glyph' logo was flown over London last night to celebrate the launch of blockbuster video game Halo 4.
The 3.2 ton structure was suspended from a helicoper on the eve of the release of the latest installment of the ã1.9 billion grossing series.
More than 500 people turned up to watch the Glyph fly over the Thames from Greenwich Peninsula to Tower Bridge in a light show visible for miles across the city.
Chris Lewis, Vice President of Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft EMEA, said: ââ¬ÅHalo launches are renowned for being entertainment game-changers and we are back with our most ambitious projects to date.
ââ¬ÅLast week we created a replica of the Halo universe within the heart of Europe. This week we have one of the world's largest and brightest performance art objects being flown over London.ââ¬Â
ââ¬ÅThe Glyph flyover makes the seemingly impossible world of science fiction a reality, a 50 foot symbol of the Didact hovering in the skies of a major capital city, seems a fitting way to herald the next chapter of this phenomenal blockbuster franchise.ââ¬Â
The performance was part of a worldwide series of events to celebrate the latest installment of the hugely popular Halo series.
Midnight openings took place in 40 countries at more than 10,000 stores, with more than 350 locations across the UK alone.
At GAME Westfield Stratford in London, 350 fans queued up to countdown to the game's late-night release.
