Off Topix: Embrace the Unexpected in Every Discussion

Off Topix is a well established general discussion forum that originally opened to the public way back in 2009! We provide a laid back atmosphere and our members are down to earth. We have a ton of content and fresh stuff is constantly being added. We cover all sorts of topics, so there's bound to be something inside to pique your interest. We welcome anyone and everyone to register & become a member of our awesome community.

Hardest Part?

All of the coding and database issues.

If you use a host, then I reckon it's setting the whole thing up, like finding a style, getting rules, etc.

Finding a host and sticking to that host! Seriously! I've been trying and trying again for about 2 years, and I haven't gone anywhere. I'm going to hopefully give it one more go in 2010, so I'll hopefully have a host I can stick with this time.

Staying focused & remaining dedicated. Stop giving up and keeping at it.

Sounds like you and I have the same sort of problem, Jughead.

For me the most difficult part of running a forum was staying dedicated to running a forum even when my forum wasn't blooming like I had hoped it. I got discouraged a lot and it was easy to lose sight of what my end goal was. I found it difficult to work on something so often and spend so much time on something with little to no reward. I found it draining and instead of enjoying the journey of starting a new forum I think I just stressed myself out and was too hard on myself.

If I were to start a new forum I would definitely be more focused of the journey and less hard on myself. Sometimes forums get slow, it's just the reality of things and that's okay! Because while it's slow it gives you time to think of upgrades or changes you'd like to make.
