Lightstream is something that was released back when Mixer was around and accessible through the Xbox to be able to stream with ease. It was available to those who had Mixer Pro which was a monthly paid subscription to Mixer for extra perks and Lightstream was included in that.
Now with Mixer gone, Lightstream is still around and now you can use it for console streaming to Twitch and so much more as well.
I have used Lightstream myself a few times when I streamed from my Xbox.
Using Lightstream gives me the ability to be able to have overlays and alerts on my stream without needing a high-end PC to be able to do all that.
