Temperatures will still be above average for the time of year but conditions will be more humid. This will lead to thunderstorms and heavy showers developing in places on Monday with these becoming more widespread from Tuesday.
Andy Page, Chief Forecaster at the Met Office said: "The UK has seen a particularly dry warm spell of late but this week will see a big change for many. From Tuesday we will see more widespread showers and thunderstorms across many parts. The public are advised to keep up to date with our forecasts and warnings."
Along with potentially significant rainfall totals we could also see large hail from these widespread and energetic storms.
The unsettled conditions are set to remain through much of this week though as is common in such situations, not everywhere will catch the heaviest of the storms, and some places may well escape altogether.
