How Do You Deal With Bullies?

If you see someone, or you yourself are being bullied either online or IRL .. how do/would you deal with the situation?

For a real life scenario .. I think this guy has the right idea

I beat the guy up in front of the school. Regrettable, but it worked.

Perhaps the better solution would be to suck it up and ignore it. I snapped, and flew for the guy.

I was bullied big time in school, I tried to ignore it but it did get me down.
Also had the police involved. Didn't deter them, made it worse.
