This is not something I have come across too often but it has been known to happen a few times within my time spent using forums.

I have come across members who tend to falsely accuse other members of something to try and get rid of them from the forum. This can sometimes result in the wrong person being removed from the forum due to false accusations.

How do you deal with false accusations?

Try to establish the cause of the rumours. Is there a legitimate he misunderstanding?
If it's malicious, that's slander and that also amounts to bullying and is unacceptable. It's a dealbreaker to continued memberships on my forums as it's best to rid communities of bullies and I'm sure you'd agree with that @Shortie :P

I would invoke Hitchen's Razor when it comes to any accusation. What can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence. If the accuser doesn't have evidence, that goes against their claim and should be immediately dismissed. If the accuser continues, I would take disciplinary action based on how bad the situation really is.

I usually ignore all the he/said she/said and just focus on the evidence. Don't accuse peeps if you don't have the receipts to back it up.

I found myself in the he said she said on other forums however without proof, it didn't happen.:)

It was years back when I was still gaming, you know many gaming clans end up in drama.:coffee:

I always thought the use of the word "clan" was an odd choice. :p
I have to agree, the use of the word "community" even in the gaming world makes more sense.
Not sure if they still use clan anymore.
