Inspired from a podcast clip I watched earlier today.

So, how honest should you be with your kids when it comes to your past?

I think being ultra honest is best, but that's because I was raised with it. xD

It depends on their age, I suppose. As teenagers, I am sure that it would be beneficial if your children could learn from your past mistakes.

Yeah, good point. I think it really does depend on their age. I wouldn't talk about things like drugs, drinking, etc till they were a teenager or so.

I'd agree with this completely 👌 💯

Completely honest so that they don't make the same mistakes and so that they can approach such things with maturity.

Yeah, good point too. I think some stuff you should be honest about.

I always believe that you should be fully honest with your kids about your past no matter what. Obviously, it goes by age and how well they will understand why you tell them. As they get to an age tell them what they would understand and just keep being honest with them as they get older and are able to understand more.

I will let them know the basic things that I want them to know. That is the only way that I think that they are going to learn about the things of life.

Agree. I think I'd just let them know the basic stuff but if they asked about relationships or whatever then I'd be honest about it.
