How important is trust in a relationship?

If I am to maintain a close relationship with anyone, then trust is a foremost quality that should be present. If I don’t trust you, then what in earth are we doing? Trust first, everything else can come after.
Sadly this quality seems to be fading in today’s world.

Trust is huge for me in a relationship!! I've been married for over 30 years and there have been times when I've been suspicious, but that's because his friends wanted to cause drama. Watch out for those kinds of friends who laugh when their besties struggle in relationships...because THE FRIENDS are the problem. I no longer trust my husband's past friends and he only keeps in touch with one, and that guy knows I don't buy his garbage anymore.
