How long is your resume?

My resume fits neatly on a one page sheet, but I think my problem if I needed to get a job is that I've been a homemaker for the last 9 years. I would hope that my skills obtained by working on forums and being an Admin would at least add something to the experience side of things?

At one point in time, I had a very detailed resume, lots of paragraphs. I think it was three pages long. I quickly learned that employers want it short and sweet. Since then, I've had a one pager.

Yeah, ain't nobody got time for 3 pages ;)

I was in on the hiring process where I used to work, and it was really a fascinating study on how my boss went through candidates, what she was looking for on the resume as well as the interview. She didn't want multiple pages, but she wanted to know if the candidate could do what we wanted, so that was important, but yet, it ended up not being mandatory! The person that the three of us who were hiring ended up agreeing on was a young guy full of energy but an awfully empty resume. He asked questions and took notes and that impressed my boss. If it had been up to me, I would have gone with the lady who had more experience, but she was a little too cocky in attitude.

But back to the resume, make sure when you apply for a job that your skills on there relate to what they do there at the position. If you know Documentum, state it!
