How many members does Off Topix usually get each day? :O Just wondering, cause Its been out for a few years, correct? And I just made my forums a week or so ago, and So far advertising has been a struggle and members aren't coming very fast.

It takes more than a week or so to actually get popularity going, Off Topix had it kind-of lucky, it was a "spin-off" of Forum Advertiser, another forum that Nebulous ran. Whatever allowed for that site to get a following, I am unsure, but maybe Nebulous will tell you. I will say that it's more difficult than ever to get popularity to a forum, especially without being willing to open your wallet.

I know it takes longer than a week, but I haven't got really any members other than my friends who have joined and I have advertised on a few places.

I started a forum in 2007 that was called HTWC, the website lasted about three months but only happened in at about five-hundred posts and twenty-seven members. Then, I ran TWC which lasted for a year, got two-hundred members and around 15,000 posts. That isn't really impressive, but I did end up going onto bigger things with Exarian, Main Event Madness, and We Talk Forums, had a forum with a lot of members, albeit never as popular as Off Topix. I would spend hours upon hours advertising and come up short, eventually I just kind-of got lucky, got the right person to join, and more and more came. I don't know, can't get discouraged.

But Off Topix doesn't seem like it has a lot of members, ya 950 Is a lot but You see some forum's with 100k+ members? like how does someone get that many people.. I'd be happy with 950 obviously but I thought it would be easier to get people.

I think that we're plenty, but Off Topix has certainly slowed down in-comparison to where it began. I like to think of us as the small town where everybody knows everybody. A new neighbor moves in from out-of-town every once in awhile, and sometimes old-friends come to visit. Also, most places with 100k members, you have to keep in-mind, are usually fifty-percent spammers, and thirty-percent people that don't actually get on.

Do you mean new members or existing members logging in?
Sometimes we don't get any new members for days or weeks... Sometimes there is a lot at once. It's all random.
As far as people logging in, today we had 17 members online. I'd say that sounds like a typical day. Sometimes more some times less.
...And we opened in September 2009. Next month is our 4th anniversary!

I meant more toward the start, you had a backing from Forum Advertiser to get us started, but I do know that I joined Off Topix because I was a part of Forum Advertiser and saw the site.

In a month and a half since forum buysell-browse.com opened, we had to delete about 3000 or so spam messages and spammer accounts. Subscription is with email verification. Go figure...

Many sites have many members but the real question is how many " ACTIVE " members does the site have ?
Some are just " drive by members " who join up post a couple of times and then they are gone but they are still counted as members.
Just look to your own members list and check out those with a very few posts. Not what i would consider active members but members nevertheless.
If i ran a site i'd rather have 50 active members than 100 with many " passengers ".
