How to plan your online afterlife

But this is a real issue.

A friend of mine died suddenly a couple of years ago. She was a writer with several ebooks published, and had her own long running blog. When she died, all of that intellectual property went into limbo as she left no will or Power of Attorney.

Her MySpace account is still online, as is her blog. Nobody knows her password and the companies involved will not delete the account even though they have been supplied with the death certificate because of the lack of a POA to dictate what happens to the accounts.

Well yes, but extrapolating loved ones from content they put online is severely creepy.

I'll probably set up a server with a little run-once-password-protected script to handle my demise... Should be interesting to create.
