I am going to my cousins wedding today

I am so excited and happy to be going to my cousins wedding today. We grew up together and she was like a sister to me. (I never had any sisters lol) I'm so stocked that she found someone that really does make her happy and that treats her right. I'm blessed to be able to share their wedding with them and I know I'm going to have a lot of fun.

This will also be the first time my boyfriend is meeting any of my family. Though my parents and brothers aren't able to come I'll be able to see my other cousins, aunts, uncles and I think my grandma's will be coming too. I think a wedding is a great opportunity for my family to meet my boyfriend mostly because my family is full of drunks and it's acceptable at weddings to drink a little more than usual. I'm am very thankful though that my family are not angry or mean drunk. We all tend to just want to have a good time and enjoy the moment.

Another thing I'm excited about is that I get to get dressed up and put on heels!

When was the last time you've been to a wedding? If you have a significant other, in what way did they meet your folks/family?

I'm also going to a close cousin's wedding in November. Her fiance loves when I'm around, for some reason haha.

I think it was 2001. I went with a friend and her family. Before then I went to one in the '80s.

Pre-pandemic, 2019, I think. My nephew (brother's eldest son). Just saw the happy couple yesterday at a family BBQ.

We started dating when I was living away from home to do a professional degree (library science). I think she met my Dad when he was down to help me move back home after I finished and then the rest of the family when she came for Thanksgiving that Fall. She's an immigrant and had no family in Canada at that time so her spending holidays with mine worked nicely.

My wife and I got married in September 2023. It was a court wedding. It is my second marriage.

My mom and my sister came over and visited her when we first got together. Everyone else met her months later.
