This says it all:

“I don’t believe in guns,” said Dorsey. “I don’t own a gun. I’m totally at the mercy of my saviors. They obviously sent two angels to help me. These people protected me when I couldn’t protect myself.”

After he was robbed, Dorsey began running down the street and says two men in a Mercedes asked him what had happened.

Not understanding why he didn't just go back to the bar and report this to the police.

Dorsey told them and they not only caught up with the suspect, but they started shooting at him.

Great. For all they knew this wasn't even the right guy but they started shooting at him. They could have killed an innocent person.

The suspect fired back. In the end, the two witnesses turned vigilantes won and took down the bad guy.

Lucky they weren't hurt or worse killed. Excuse me, but where does it say these two witnessed what happened? It's vigilantes like this who take the law into their own hands, shoot at people they have no idea are guilty or innocent that adds to the gun violence in this country.

On a somewhat related note, what do you think of this?

ACAPULCO, Mexico (AP) -- Several hundred civilians have taken up arms in two towns in a southwestern Mexico state and are arresting people suspected of crimes and imposing a curfew, leading authorities to promise to reinforce security forces in the area.

...

They kill, extort, rape. You do not know if they are drug dealers, thugs, who want to grab everything, he said. We want to return peace and tranquility to the entire population. Only the people can restore order.

People in the area said about 800 residents were participating in the armed groups acting as unofficial police.

An armed society is a safe society. Bet the crime rate has dropped dramatically.

Or... innocent people defending themselves.
Or those, yes.

It's all about who's holding the gun after all.

Still, can't say I trust people enough to allow vigilantism.
