I don't remember you..

I ran into this girl at the mall a couple weeks ago & been chatting with her on Facebook. Apparently I took her out to dinner a few years ago & stopped talking to her after that. I was dating her friend & when we broke up, her friend introduced us. I talked to my ex to see if this was true & she said it was....



I don't remember any of this at all & its bothering me.



Has anything like this happened to you?

Who knows.. Maybe they are both in on it and trying to screw with my head.

It seems like everybody in three states knows me.



Many of them call me by name, say we used to work together, or they were a client (or convict), or they were at so-and-sos funeral/wedding/graduation/dinner, they were in a class, at a convention... whatever.



I don't know them from Adam, or Eve. Couldn't say for sure that I've ever even seen them before. And if so, when.



I have no idea.



And don't care.



I'm invariably friendly, say something along the lines of Oh, yeah, how have you been doing/It's been a long time/That was a nice day/ or whatever seems appropriate, and go about my business.

In my job, I meet hundreds of people so it's happened to me many times. I also do what DrLeftover does. I just act friendly and reply something along the lines of Oh, hello. It's very nice to see you again and quickly move on.

I guess not. I asked her what restaurant we went to and she told me... I dont remember ever setting foot in that restaurant. I should go walk in there one day and see if anything looks familiar.

It happened again today.



I was at the Blood Bank of all places, and a guy who was already in the in the canteen when I got done smiled at me, asked me if I was who I was, and talked about when we used to work together at a temp agency as electricians.



I barely remembered working for the jobber for a couple of months over TEN YEARS AGO, and don't remember him at all.



Oh well.



I drank my coffee, asked him if they ever finished the job, and he told me all about that too. Then he left.



So it goes.

Well apparently I've been in a relationship that I don't remember! No idea how that works, I must have been drunk quite a lot!

I had a one-night stand on NYE. Dunno how it exactly happened.
