They have no idea what a gender means at that age. But sure let's mentally frack up a kids mental state and say be something you are not. God this country has gone insane that we are even having a conversation that this is somehow in the slightest normal.
You are assigning a gender at birth and instilling it in them very concretely. I get that you only see black and white in this situation, TL. That's all your mind can operate under. However, you are very much ignorant to the plight of a person living in a society where gender is hammered into your mind from the moment you are pushed or cut out of your mother. I don't know why you care about how these parents are raising their children. This one seems to be delighted, happy with who she is, and no longer depressed that she feels different and can't do anything about it. Why don't you concern yourself with parents whoa re actually harming their children like mentally, emotionally, and physically abusing or neglecting them?
These parents are hurting there kid no less then the parent who abuses there child physically or sexually. We are assigning a gender at birth because they are a gender at birth. No amount of pretending or physical mutilation under the guise of surgery can change that.
No, we assign a sex at birth. Sex is different than gender. Sex is male or female (although often times a person can be born intersex, which is a "variation in sex characteristics including chromosomes, gonads, or genitals that do not allow an individual to be distinctly identified as male or female", so explain your way out of that one to me). Gender is a social construct that assigns certain stereotypical roles to a person based on their sex. You should've paid more attention in health class.
Now you have jumped to a rare condition of something like this happening. But 99.99999999999999% of the time you are a male or female. And PRETENDING to be something else ain't healthy or normal. So we assign sex because there actual gender is male or female.
Gender is no social construct. Lol! It's liberal and progressive googly Gok. They are assigned because men and women are physically different in dozens of different ways.
I'm not talking about physicality. Sure, many women tend to be smaller built than men, have smaller hearts, etc. But it's not rare that a woman will be taller/more muscular than some men (although this can be changed with hormone replacement therapy). What I'm talking about is gender roles and stereotypes. Would you call me a freak of nature for being a tomboy, dressing more like a boy, playing video games, being more logical and thinking more masculine than my female counterparts? I have a short haircut, too. Does that make me unnatural?
Well physicality is what it is about. How the brain works. The chemicals the body produces. The bone structure, size and how they are arranged in the body so one can carry a child and how the other never can no matter how much one wants to pretend they are something they can never be. It is why a woman never has and never can pass special forces training no matter how much hormone therapy they get because we are different each with unique and special abilities.
Being a Tomboy but still understanding they are woman is a big difference from being mentally ill and wanting to pretend they are a real boy by mutilating there bodies.
Calling it a mental illness shows me you're still stuck in a very medieval way of thinking, but that doesn't surprise me. I take pity on you.
Only one of the top doctors in the nation from one top hospitals in the nation make it far from medieval but instead normal thinking based on common sense and medicine.
Johns Hopkins Psychiatrist: Transgender is ‘Mental Disorder;' Sex Change ‘Biologically Impossible’
http://cnsnews.com/news/article/mic...atrist-transgender-mental-disorder-sex-change
Being a John Hopkins psychiatrist, or a psychiatrist for that matter, doesn't mean it's true or even remotely agreed upon by the majority of mental health professionals (although I won't argue that biologically a man is a man and a woman is a woman and an intersex person is intersex). What I'm talking about is it is most definitely not a mental disorder and certainly not on par with schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, Autism, Dementia...need I go on? I mean, not too long ago, people thought that smoking wasn't as bad for you as it really is and physicians actually "approved" of it (and chain smoked themselves). We all know where that led. I look forward to the day when this ancient mindset becomes a thing of the past.
TL;DR You can have a medical degree, but you can still be stupid.
The next wave of “body diversity”: Disabled by choice
POSTED AT 12:01 PM ON JUNE 2, 2015 BY ED MORRISSEY
If a person can claim gender based on their mental and emotional orientation, what other forms of “body diversity” exist? The rapid acceptance and even celebration of Caitlyn Jenner’s debut onto the social scene (and social media) may soon bring another form of body diversity into the light, or so the Canada National Post argues today. “We need to move away from pathologizing people,” says Clive Baldwin, including those who chop off their limbs or fake paralysis in order to live as disabled people. “For many, amputation is the only way forward,” the St. Thomas University, Frederickton professor tells Sarah Boesveld, and “it isn’t beyond the pale.”
Really?

You're hilarious, TL. The amount of ignorance you exude is comical. At this point, talking to you is a joke so I'm going to gracefully bow out.
