iLasik Vision Correction

Hey guys,



I get my vision corrected next week via the iLasik procedure. I'm really excited for it and have spent the last 12 or so months researching the operation to familiarize myself with how it's performed and what complications and risks are involved.



Has anyone here had it done, or know of anyone that has had it done? What was the outcome? I'm particularly interested in people who have had complications of some sort, no matter how minor. Dry eyes, starbursts, glare and halos at nighttime... etc.

My Dad had Laser eye surgery, though I'm not sure if it was iLasik, being that it was over twenty years ago, before I was born.



He says that because of the operation he has trouble focusing at night while driving. Not really extreme, he just has to focus a bit more than others.



I can't think of anything else, we never really discuss it often..

Seems like a scary risk to take since you possibly could lose your eyesight.

It's a risk I'm willing to take. I can't do what I want to without it, so the surgery is my only chance at being able to achieve what I want to. And it's less than 2 days away now.

Well I had surgery a couple of days ago. The surgeon seemed very happy with the results when I went back the next day for my post-op check up. Everything up close is still slightly blurry - but that is to be expected for a few days to a week or so after surgery. At night, I see halos around street lights, but from what I'm told and researched, that should ease up in 4 weeks or so.



I apparently have 20/20 vision and that should improve to possibly 20/15 over the next week or so as my eyes stabilize. So fingers crossed the night vision and blurriness problems disappear soon.

So how did it feel?

You don't feel anything. The only thing I felt were the eye drops that were put in before the surgery to clean and numb my eyes. After that the eyes don't feel anything - but you can still see.



I hate eye drops like nothing on earth, so that was the worst part for me. I did start to freak out a little bit when the surgeon was doing my second eye, because I knew what what was coming and began to realize what each step was. I was being told to relax and I just couldn't do it. I could see everything, although it was all a blur except for about 3 seconds when my vision fades to blackness. Kinda scary seeing the surgeons hands in front of your face.





For someone who has more self control than I do, wouldn't have a problem. After surgery, there is supposed to be a feeling of sand in your eye. However, I never really experienced this as when I got home I went to sleep so when I woke up the feeling had subsided.



All in all, a very quick and painless procedure.
