Are you against it? I'm not. Most artists get most the money from tours. Plus honestly it not illegal downloading if you buy the computer....

How is it not illegal downloading if you buy the computer? That doesn't make any sense?

But yes, i download movies, but i buy lots also.

You need to have a computer to download right? And illegal downloading means free without the copyright.

Yes, but it's illegal to download, they have laws in forced that you can't burn or distribute movies or music without permission from the company's, so any form of downloading movies or music is illegal unless the company allows it.

It doesn't matter if you bought the computer or not, that's why people are getting fined for doing such things.

You do got a point on that. Forgot about the laws lol

But I don't think illegal downloading isn't fair to the artists. The money for music goes to the album company. Artist get the money from tours. So I don't know why artists are making a fuss about illegal downloading...

But illegally downloading movies I think is unfair. The movies' staff and movie production gets less money

I don't download my music or movies. I buy everything through the iTunes store.

I download MP3's, Movies but i do mostly buy them in retail before i download them. so its technically legal then.

What the hell kind of sense does that make?

It can be stated so simply that piracy is a crime, a crime that I've never partaken in and never will. I put myself in the filmmakers and artists shoes and know that it's wrong, and use my moral values to determine what kind of a person I would rather be.

As for buying the computer, that's bullshit.

Lucky rich person...

I don't have enough money to waste buying music, and I normally listen to bands that really won't give a damn if I download their music legally or not considering their CDs are hard to get.

I'm not that rich. I don't download that often either. Maybe once or twice a month. I just turn the TV on when I want to listen to music mostly.

Artists get plenty of money. Illegally downloading doesn't hinder them in anyway because they still have people who buy their products, not to mention they can reach out to new fans due to illegal downloading.

Well limewire is gone now. I wonder if they are going to shut down all peer to peer type programs.

Limewire is only software though. You can access the exact same network (Gnutella) via Frostwire, so shutting down limewire was completely useless in the first place.

Pandora's Box has essentially been opened. No matter what they do. They can't truly stop it.

Honestly, i download music illegally all the time. I actually don't feel 'guilty' about it at all, because i have never seen a musical artist take out 10 minutes in there life to make a commercial or make a public statement, about how terrible their life has become because of piracy.

Then again, were not even getting what we could be paying for. Usually the recordings downloaded are low quality and don't provide the equivalent enjoyment of buying the high quality version, but if your willing to settle, why not?

Well for instance if you download from the iTunes store they give it to you in the m4a audio format which is not compatible with many higher end mp3 players. Additionally, you can download higher quality files off of the internet, so it would be sense to purchase the music and then download it in a format that is higher quality and one that you can actually use if you don't own an ipod.

See, the difference between stealing and pirating is simply this, for stealing to occur, one party must lose something. Pirating music esp via P2P networks is sharing music with others, no party incurs a loss. It is no different than letting your friend borrow one of your CDs...

Not if you know what you're doing.

Limewire is very very different than private torrent trackers that offer a closed P2P network.

what he said ^^^

it might be illegal but when i see artists flaunting their rich lifestyles on the tv i dont feel guilty one little bit

When I first became unemployed earlier in the year I started to download. I have downloaded alot of albums since.

However when I can afford to I buy the albums. I like to have the hard copy and the cds with the booklets

I think if you contact the artist and tell them that you want to download one of their songs and you're asking for their permission and if they don't reply then it's ok

Yeah, I download illegally.

Even if they shut down all of that software and the network it would still be really easy to get the stuff, it would basically just knock out all the people who don't know hardly anything about computers.

(For instance, I can take a Youtube video and get it straight from there.)
