What's the brokest you have ever been?

Well I'm in debt, I'm so broke I have negative money. :faint:

I'm not in debt, but I'm not making enough to pay all my bills. xD So...I've got negative money, too?

For me it was when I was a child. My dad was in the military and got paid only once a month. There were times he couldn't afford to make or buy spaghetti sauce. We would use ketchup. I had no idea, as a child, that everyone didn't eat spaghetti with ketchup on it. Heck it tasted good to me!

Your dad was broke though, what about when you had your own income?

I grew up on govt. assistance and in government housing, talk about being a poor child. I was embarrassed to go grocery shopping with my mom because she paid with food stamps.

I, personally, have never been in a 'down and out' broke situation. I would cut every corner I could not to owe anyone any money. That meant many a night having a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for my meal.

My motto was and still is: "If you can't afford to pay cash for something, then you don't need it."

Good on you for being so responsible! :)

*sigh* That's probably going to be me this month. Got slammed with bills this month. :faint:

In my mid 20's, I was in debt and could not afford my rent so ended up homeless for about 3 months.

In May-November 2009. My dad, after he was fired, was running an internet cafe back then. The income wasn't enough to invest on 'good' things (and that included first-class food). We had to repeat the same food that I had for lunch for dinner and vice versa.

From late August in 2006 till June 12th of 2012 I lived entirely and completely on the good graces of my family. They fed me, clothed me, housed me; absolutely every need I had was met by my Mom and my step-Dad. I didn't make one single dime in all that time and I had incredibly, outrageously expensive medications that my Mom paid for in cash. One 'script alone cost over $200, not to mention the other 11 medications I was on. That was, obviously, the most miserable time of my life. Thank God it's over and I am mostly independent again.

Well that was nice of them to take care of you for all those years of your adult life. :)
