A few months ago a lady came into my dad's store and she slipped and fell on some milk that another customer had spilled. Now, the spill just happened and she just walked in, so it was before they could go get a wet floor sign or a mop to get it up. It was just a freak accident. A customer spilled some milk on the floor and the lady just happened to come in to the store and slip on it before anyone could do anything about it.

So, my dad calls her an ambulance, while her relatives go out to their cars to get their cameras so they can take pictures of their other relative that's on the ground hurt so they can sue the store for money. My dad lets the relatives know that the store will pay for ALL medical expenses, including the Ambulance ride, hospital bill, etc, however, she insisted that she's going to sue the store.

So... Turns out she did what she said she was going to do. She's suing the store right now for $250,000. My dad had to answer questions from her lawyer today, and I thought one of them was hilarious. Her lawyer asked why my dad didn't take pictures of the scene, and he said that he was staying with the injured person on the floor, while her relatives went off to get their cameras so they could simply sue the store. They even got in the paramedics' way. My dad said that the paramedics finally told her relatives to stop taking pictures so they can assist the patient. That's how sad people are.

So..... Turns out nothing was wrong with her and that she didn't have any bodily harm, except for the fact that she slipped and fell.

Come on, suing for 250k is just being a gold digger. In addition, my dad's lawyer told him that she has a history of suing people for money.

Did you ever think the guy spilling the milk on the floor and that lady were possibly related and it was staged so they could sue? People are known to do that in retail stores so I wouldn't put it past them.

A piece of advice is to have someone stand near a spill and force anyone who gets near it away while someone else goes to get stuff to clean it up. It sounds stupid but it can save you from having someone get hurt and possibly sue you.

I agree with Bluezone. Sounds to me like it was a setup. People do this all the time where they stage accidents and then sue. She has no injury so what the heck is she suing for?

Does your dad have security cameras in the store?

If it was a genuine accident and she slipped on the floor and was legitimately hurt than regardless of if it was a freak accident, she'd have every right to sue. This is saying that she actually injured herself greatly, and can't do her job anymore which apparently isn't the case because of the fact that you said she was fine, and with that, see the comments above because they summed it up nicely.

I'd like to know the outcome. Hope MrJ comes back and lets us know!

How did you know she often sued for money? Did you check her lawsuit records or what?

I'm unsure of how that information was obtained, but she was known for suing in the past.

They settled for a little under $100,000.

This is exactly why she's known for suing in the past. Give me a break! She wasn't even hurt and this is why people are so freakin' sue happy these days!

It's nice to know that her relatives were caring enough to take photos instead of, oh, I don't know, help.

I don't know much about lawsuits, but if she wanted $250 000 from me I'd tell her to shove it.
