What are some things a person can say about themselves, talk about or do that makes you instantly assume them to be an untrustworthy, shady person?

Just a few for now:

  • People who won't look you in the eye when you're talking to them.
  • People who talk about drinking and how much they can drink without getting drunk.
  • People who talk about all the things they own yet they don't work.
  • People who talk badly about others without even knowing the person/persons they're talking about.
  • People who want too much personal information about me.
  • People who always have to be the center of attention.

- People that said they just got out of prison/jail
- Someone who always talks about violence
- Someone to try to get me to do something illegal for them / something sneaky
- Someone who follows me and I don't even know them

All of the above.

And I would add: "A holier than thou" attitude as well.
Yep Dr. :) I can't believe I left that one out.

All of the above seems about right...

What if they said they were innocent and wrongly convicted? Would you believe them?

Looks can be very deceiving and can't really be trusted so while they can help in showing deception, they can also mislead as well.

I think a big one that everyone missed is someone who tells you everything you want to hear and/or says nothing that offends you. No one being honest can do that as they are bound to be offensive or say something you don't want to hear but a liar can do just that.

Anyone who is always nice to everyone until they leave; you can bet they say the same things about you when you leave. A big one for me is anyone (I'll admit this seems to be a mostly female issue) who is automatically unkind to people of the same gender but charming to those of the opposite gender. I don't mean just getting along better with people of the opposite gender, it's the mean to the same gender that's key with this one.

No.

Because I know for a fact that most of those in a particular state prison WERE NOT in prison for what they were sentenced for, and that was a fact that they would point out in a heartbeat.... BUT INSTEAD they had been sentenced for 'God Knows What' in a plea deal that sent them up for 'three to five' instead of standing trial for whatever they did that had a chance to land them in the Hotel GrayBar for, in some cases, Twenty to Life, when convicted.

Interesting theory. Hopefully they'll have some plea deals for me if I ever go to jail for something I didn't do. :P
