Not as popular, not with creating them anyway, there would be massive ones around however, but i think Social Networking (Facebook, Twitter) will be the future.

I agree with this answer.

I don't see what social networking sites and forums have in common? It's a totally different medium if you ask me.

I'll use them as long as the internet is around, I <3 forums, and think they're amazing forms of communication. I don't think the future is amazing though

Absolutely. I foresee the cycle of things continuing in this pattern for the long haul but I also foresee the amount of people that actually get popular forums severely diminishing to the point where there is only a handful of major sites. That's not to say that kinda popular forums won't exist and stay strong but it'll be alot less likely for them to join the upper groupings.

I agree as well. Not many people will enjoy the prospect of making them, but there will probably be a nice handful of active and huge boards around.

i agree..........i think they will be around.....maybe evolve some what

I don't think they will be too popular, maybe even dead, because of advances in technology and communication.

Yes. I predict the phpBB 3D project I have been expecting for three years now will be revealed, allowing us to view our forums in full 3D, too. Obviously, other software like SMF and VB will follow suit... who doesn't want 3D forums?

^^This. I don't want to view my forum or anybody else's forum in 3D at all. Some forums are hard to see as it is and only having posts and the layout itself might only make things worse rather than better. I'd definetly quit foruming if it ever went that route. Either that, or I just wouldn't join any forum that had a 3D feature.
